LAUNCHING OF THE YEAR II OF THE 300TH YEAR OF THE FOUNDATION OF THE AR CONGREGATION

The Augustinian Recollect Sisters celebrated a significant milestone as they launched Year II of the 300th anniversary of the AR Congregation’s foundation. Founded on July 16, 1725, by Mo. Dionisia Talangpaz and Mo. Cecilia Rosa Talangpaz, the Augustinian Recollect Sisters hold the distinction of being the second oldest congregation in the Philippines, following the Religious of the Virgin Mary. Additionally, they proudly stand as the third oldest congregation founded in Asia.

On July 15, 2023, the AR School community came together to kick-start the Feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel celebration. The occasion commenced with a Holy Mass held at CSR Main-Chapel, officiated by Fr. Marjun A. Almario, presider for Colegio de Santa Rita de San Carlos Inc. Attendees included faculty, staff, AR sisters, and the newly elected ARSC executive officers. Following the Mass, a compelling talk was conducted on the Expansion of the AR Congregation into the 21st century, joined by representatives from various AR schools across the country. Sr. Marlyn N. Cula A.R. delivered an enthusiastic opening message, greeting attendees in multiple languages corresponding to their assigned regions.

Sr. Cleofe Maria J. Agua A.R. led the discussion on the historicity of the AR Congregation, tracing its roots back to the 18th century, preceding World War I. She elaborated on the establishment of AR schools, starting in Manila and expanding to other provinces such as Cavite and Bohol, as well as reaching other countries.

The event concluded with an engaging quiz, followed by an open forum involving participants from different AR schools. Mo. Lucena L. Antipala A.R. delivered a closing message, wrapping up the celebration.
